“This endowed keynote is one way in which we can help make an impact in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within our HPE community.”

Race Is Not a Risk Factor: Highlighting the Importance of Racial Equity and Justice in K-12 Health Education
This keynote will explore the critical need for integrating racial equity and justice into K-12 health education. It will challenge the misconception that race itself is a risk factor for poor health outcomes, highlighting instead how systemic inequities and social determinants of health disproportionately impact students of color.
Attendees will gain insights into the role educators play in addressing these disparities and learn actionable strategies to create more inclusive, equitable health education environments that empower all students to thrive.
