Event Code of Conduct
SHAPE America is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all attendees, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, guests and volunteers. This Event Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for behavior and applies to all participants at SHAPE America events – whether attending in person or virtually.
By participating in a SHAPE America event, you agree to uphold these standards. Event organizers will actively enforce this policy, and your cooperation is essential to help ensure a positive experience for everyone.
Commitment to a Harassment-Free Environment
SHAPE America does not tolerate harassment, discrimination, or disrespectful behavior in any form. We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.
Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to:
- Treat others with respect, courtesy, and professionalism in all interactions – online, onsite, and offsite.
- Respect personal space and property; secure your belongings and be mindful of your surroundings and fellow participants.
- Promptly report any situation that appears unsafe, threatening, or inappropriate to event staff.
- Provide honest, constructive, and relevant contributions to discussions and activities.
- Comply with all applicable laws, venue rules, and instructions from SHAPE America and event staff.
Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are not permitted:
- Harassment, intimidation, discrimination, abuse, or threats of any kind.
- Spam event participants
- Post content that is obscene or otherwise objectionable
- Use a SHAPE America Event for commercial or advertising purposes. Event organizers reserve the right to escort any individual from the event who is reported to be soliciting and who is not a SHAPE America exhibitor at the event or an entity that has entered into a specific sponsorship agreement for the event.
- Post copyrighted content without permission from the owner
Reporting a Violation
If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it promptly to SHAPE America staff. Reports can be made in person at the event or by emailing [email protected]. In case of an emergency or immediate threat to personal safety, please contact local authorities immediately.
Consequences of Violating this Policy
SHAPE America reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate in response to violations of this Code of Conduct. This may include, but is not limited to:
- Verbal or written warnings
- Expulsion from the event without a refund
- Prohibition from attending future SHAPE America events
